Music Business Resources/Shows in Brooklyn

Whew, i've learned more about the music business these past few weeks than I learned in a year of Undergrad. It just goes to show you how real life experience often trumps what outdated textbooks we're demanded to read at school. That being said, I have some excellent reads I can recommend for DIY artists, namely, "The Self Promoting Musician", the 2014 "Songwriter's Market" and "The indie band Survival Guide". All of these books are very cheap (especially from and really lay out some excellent marketing plans. They will NOT help you write good music, but they WILL help you make strategic choices when choosing what to do with it. Most of my music business learning is coming from the Outlet Media Group and Noble Media Management, both which are located in New York City. I'm slowly approaching the point of not being able to make the best decisions alone, especially with marketing, branding, social media, music videos etc. so if you're in the same wobbly boat, you may find help using these resources as well.

Another great resource is Alive with Clive, ( This is a man who is spot on with positive wisdom and instilling the tools necessary to follow your path. He does excellent branding with charities and loves interviewing Songwriter’s about their craft. As he succinctly quoted, "life is not a dress rehearsal”. We both bonded over the importance of using grief in life to push us forward and reveled in the power of using metaphors to heighten lyrical content. I still haven’t mastered the art of being myself under the cameras eye, but i’m getting closer each day.

Regarding art + music I’m finally getting started on my merchandise, with some beautiful t-shirts designs via ( I stumbled across some of his beautiful watercolor prints via instagram and was like, " This guy's stuff needs was made for me". For a sneak peak just look at these. The wonder of turning a blank page into a masterpiece.   ( click the picture for a gallery)

Lastly, I’m performing in Brooklyn this week with fellow singer/songwriter Chris Blacker. He is a master composer and we are excited to share our music in this intimate venue. Two Moon Art House and Cafe ( is a neighborhood art gallery, music venue, film house, cafe and wine bar serving homemade baked goods, seasonal entrees and delicious La Colombe coffee. Two Moon's treats and coffees are perfectly paired with rotating visual art exhibits and live performances. You’re going to see a lot of developments the next few months, namely the option of requesting a private house concert,  a youtube cover series and two music videos.

As always, feel free to shoot any comments or questions my way, and thanks for being a fan.
